Moscow region – one of the most developed agricultural and industrial regions of Central Russia with the millions of people, high scientific potential, the world-famous monuments of history, culture and art. By XX century Moscow Province occupied 29,2 thousand kv.verst and consisted of 13 counties (Bogorodsky, Bronnitsky, Vereysky, Volokolamsk, Dmitrov, Zvenigorod, Klin, Kolomna, Mozhaysk, Moscow, Podolsk, Ruza, Serpukhov). In the 1897 census lived here 2.4 million, including 1.1 million – in the cities. In Moscow province were more than 2,5 thousands of factories, employing 325.6 thousand people.

In the XXI century Moscow region became one of the leading regions for the production of consumer goods, a region rich in natural resources (peat, phosphorite, white and red clay, building and silicate sand, cement raw materials).

In addition, here the development of heavy and light industry, chemical and petrochemical industry, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, machine building and metalworking, and textiles, food, timber, woodworking and pulp and paper industry.
